Fabric8 Membrane Services was honored to be part of the spectacular Ken Rosewall Arena renovation, which incorporates a unique cable-tension and PTFE fabric design roof!

Located at the Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre in Homebush is the Ken Rosewall Arena. The stadium, which was originally built for the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, has been repurposed  in 2019 becoming an international indoor arena. It is currently the home of both NSW Tennis and  netball in NSW, holding Super Netball home games for the NSW Swifts and Giants Netball teams, in addition to international and national tennis events.

A wide span PTFE weatherproof cover that can shade a capacity for 10,500 people. The new tension cable roof allows for all-weather events, while the new timber floor allows for netball tournaments. New seats, lighting, video boards, sound system, and branding were also part of the redevelopment.

The eye-catching new roof is a revolutionary cable-tension and PTFE fabric design, a first for Australian stadiums, created by Cox Architecture in collaboration with Arup. AW Edwards produced the project in collaboration with sports shade expert Fabritecture partnering with Fabric8 Membrane Services as their choice for fabrication tensile company. The fabric roofing was produced and made locally in the Philippines, with the help of skilled engineers and manpower production at Fabric8.

The arena has a capacity for 10,500 people, and the new roof allows for all-weather events, while the new timber floor allows for netball tournaments.

The facility has been transformed into a multi-purpose indoor covered arena with expanded in-stadium video boards, improved seating, and shade for 10,000 spectators as a part of the makeover.

Another project in which we are honored to be apart of.
